"I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories...water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom"
My Wander Women
I started interviewing inspirational women leading a life less ordinary to give myself and my readers courage and motivation on the path. I think of these women as torch bearers lighting the way for the rest of us and showing us what is possible. I no longer recognized the ever increasingly narrow and invisible roles that society places on women once they hit their thirties, forties and beyond. It seems I can be young and beautiful, a mother, a business woman or a grandmother. But what about the years in between and what about all the other deeply dark, glittering and unsung parts of what makes me a woman? There are women out there doing brave, extraordinary things, refusing to be confined by the narrow definitions society and family have chosen for them. Women who are taking the time to discover what lights them up, fuels their passion and makes their heart sing and are going after it full throttle.
Before I even had readers for this site The Discovery Channel somehow found me and asked if I wanted to interview the legendary rock climber Lynn Hill. Yes please! A year later and I'm thrilled that a wonderful synchronicity of events meant I was able to interview the world famous spiritual teacher, best selling author and Oprah regular, Byron Katie.
In times when we were tribal - the way that women learned new skills was by sitting around in circle and sharing their giftwith each other. Nowadays our own "tribe" is restricted to a small circle of immediate family and a few friends and the role of the sister circle and the female elder and the experience and lessons they have to share is often diminished and overlooked. I'm called to glean the stories and life lessons from these wise women of all ages and share them with you.
